About Us

We are a small, select pool of professional musicians working as a string quartet, with almost ten years experience in providing live music for formal and informal occasions. As much at home playing in a concert hall as at a wedding venue, the Minerva Quartet gave its debut recital at Prior Park, Bath in 1996 and has given concerts for music societies and festivals across the South West and Wales, including the Three Choirs’ Festival in Hereford.

We have recorded for BBC Radio 4, providing incidental music for such plays as The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Orchestra Paloma and have also recorded the music for Channel 4’s series Victoria and Albert. The quartet also features on the albums of the cult pop group Porcupine Tree and the Japanese vocalist Halo.

Members of the group also work as freelance musicians and have performed with a variety of ensembles and orchestras including BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, English Symphony Orchestra, Joensuu City Orchestra (Finland), Orchestra of Welsh National Opera, London City Ballet, Emerald Ensemble, and Bristol Old Vic Theatre Company.

We have an extensive and eclectic repertoire and can provide music suitable for all special occasions - weddings, receptions, dinners, corporate functions, birthday & Christmas parties, product launches, garden parties, art exhibitions and banquets.

Our professionalism and reliability is recognised by many venues that are happy to recommend us to their clients. Amongst the venues we play at regularly are St.Audries Park, Bath Assembly Rooms, Clearwell Castle, Thornbury Castle, Kings Weston House and Priston Mill.

We are based in Bristol and cover mainly the South West and South Wales (Gloucestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire, Monmouthshire, Gwent & Herefordshire).

We charge £400 for a minimum of 2 hours. Subsequent time is charged at £60 per half-hour.
